Surgeon Matters . . . Seek individual treatment, not special treatment

February 26, 2022

Anyone preparing for a cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure, knows that safety and quality is essential – no matter your age or location. With procedure numbers growing year-on-year internationally, choosing the right surgeon for 'you' ensures best results, and the best individual care. Here’s why experience, specialist training and practise should be weighted above all else . . .

The art of plastic surgery isn’t reliant on just skill and ability – it requires sound technical ability too. For the majority of surgical procedures – even non-invasive – the outcome is affected by planning and decision making in the headspace, not just the hands at work.

Many people don’t realise that not all surgeons specialise exclusively in cosmetic surgery – as many as 90% of them do not. Which is why choosing a surgeon who specialises in both – cosmetic and plastic surgery – like Da Vinci’s Adam Bialostocki and Brandon Adams, is essential for peace-of-mind and careful management of procedures.

As reported by the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), it takes eight to 10 years of specialist training to become a Specialist Plastic Surgeon and have your training recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) – the only professional body accredited to train Specialist Surgeons in New Zealand and Australia.

RACS also requires and monitors ongoing medical education, ensuring specialists continue to provide the highest standards of professional care. Only fully trained and registered Specialist Plastic Surgeons who are fellow RACS – like Adam and Brandon – can join the Australasian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and ASAPS.

Many renowned surgeons, will also choose to undertake additional post-fellowship training. For example, Adam travelled to Paris where he sought speciality training in breast surgery and abdominoplasty. Attendance at annual symposiums and workshops is also a tell-tale sign a surgeon is vested in his vocation – and everyone (patients and practice staff) stand to benefit from this knowledge i.e. Brandon and Adam attend annual  advanced aesthetic plastic workshops.

Alongside sound specialist experience and qualifications, feeling comfortable in your surrounds is essential for any procedure. No matter the size of the practice – big or small – every patient deserves assurance, attentiveness and reassurance. The personalities, communication and ease of the staff – coupled with the care and attention, and detail of the rooms and spaces – are sure signs that you are in the right hands from initial consultation right through to after-care procedures.
